    Our Story

Smith & Brit is a beauty and wellness destination in New York’s vibrant neighborhood of Chelsea. With over 40 years of combined experience, founders Kristyn Smith and Claire Beevers use their collective knowledge and passion to provide a carefully edited selection of products for lifestyle and beauty. By blending both eastern and western philosophies in our in-house treatments, we provide an array of services to bespoke facials, lymphatic drainage, and aromatherapy massage for each of our client’s individual needs.

Here at Smith and Brit, we place an emphasis on brands that are ethical, innovative, and effective that contain the highest quality of ingredients and are unique in their vision and function. We love helping clients discover what’s most appropriate for their own skin care needs, but also to introduce them to some of our exciting and fresh health and wellness discoveries.

With iconic neighbors such as Chelsea Market, Chelsea Piers, the High Line, and the Whitney Museum of American Art, our cozy 19th Street location has both neighborhood quaintness and an urban buzz to truly feel like the quintessential New York experience. Pop in for a cup of tea, enjoy a browse, beauty advice, or simply a smile as we hope you will feel just as much at home as we do.

    The Team

    Claire Beevers

    Founder/Co Owner

Makeup Artist - Skin Care Specialist

With over 27 years of experience in the luxury beauty industry in both London and New York, Claire Beevers has forged a very unique perspective from her experience on both continents. In the early stage of her career, Claire traveled the world working as a massage therapist and facialist on some of the finest spas on luxury cruise liners.  It was here that she was introduced in how to offer personalized treatment to people from all corners of the globe with a variety of beauty requirements.

As Claire advanced in her career, she managed beauty counters and spas at some of the most prestigious stores in the world including Harrods, Selfridges, SpaceNK and Saks 5th Avenue in New York. A highly qualified beautician, Claire is also an accomplished makeup artist who has worked with numerous high profile clients in fields varying from high fashion to bridal and everyday make up application. It is this vast knowledge of the beauty industry and fundamental understanding of the client’s individual needs that Claire is excited to bring to her new venture at Smith & Brit.

    Kristyn Smith

    Founder/Co Owner

    Master Esthetician

Don’t be fooled by Kristyn Smith’s soft-spoken voice and Southern California mellowness as she has been a powerhouse in the wellness and beauty industry for over 15 years. Beginning her career as a makeup artist in London, Kristyn became frustrated that makeup was only being used to mask skin conditions or mimic the dewy look of healthy skin. Upon moving back to the West Coast, Kristyn’s education flourished as she worked with plastic surgeons as a medical esthetician and developed innovative techniques that approach skin care through a holistic lens.

From consulting and launching luxury spas to curating Japanese skin care lines, Kristyn’s passion for creating and maintaining healthy skin has only been amplified since opening Smith and Brit. Kristyn specializes in anti-aging, hyper pigmentation, and incorporates lymphatic drainage in every facial. She approaches the skin from the inside/out and will begin every facial with a consultation before customizing a specific treatment and follow-up for her client to continue the healing, detoxifying, and balancing long after leaving the chair.

    Belinda Pegg

    Microblade Artist

After fulfilling her dream of moving to New York from Australia, Belinda was becoming tired of the corporate world and started looking for a side hustle. She stumbled upon microblading when she was looking to get her own eyebrows done and it took her back to the mid nineties when she went through life, like many women at the time, with pencilled in eyebrows. If only microblading had been around then! Luckily, Belinda was able to grow her eyebrows back however, she understands the pain of having to make them up every morning and then the all day anxiety of trying to keep them on.

As things turned out for Belinda, microblading never became the side hustle it was supposed to be and instead, turned into a full time career. Belinda loves the merging of art and science that comes with microblading but ultimately, it’s seeing her clients’ faces light up when they see their new eyebrows that gives her the most satisfaction.

Never quite content with doing just one thing, Belinda has expanded her skill set and now offers semi permanent foundation and will soon be adding Plasma Fibroblast Skin Tightening to her service offering.

    Birgit Nagele

After years of practicing yoga and signing up for an intro to Reflexology for self care, she recognized the calling to become a healing artist.  She has been continuing her training in reflexology ever since and has not looked back.  In the meantime she has had opportunities to share her art internationally and with many populations including four legged friends.

Birgit supports clients to withdraw into and experience the rebalancing within their body’s systems which is always ready for rediscovery and that is needed to keep tension from entrenching.

Our minds crave breaks from our busy interconnected lives and our bodies deserves this non-invasive and healing art.  Claire’s and Kristyn‘s curation of high quality products complement the experience.

While she often suggests combo sessions (multiple angle approach), ultimately its up to the client’s need, challenges, and preference.

She is happy to join the wonderful Smith & Brit team and invite fellow New Yorkers to unplug and harmonize with Reflexology.
